New Demos Online

July 8th, 2013

Finally the new demos have arrived. The final mixes are complete and The Beat Collective now have our new demos online. Please check out the media player to the right hand side of each page and let us know what you think. We’re very happy with them and think they sound great.

Of course, we’re still extremely proud of our previous demos. As our media player only allows 5 songs on at any time, we will be setting up a Sound Cloud page soon and posting the link on the webpage, so you can hear all the demo’s in full. Theres some absolute classics on there. Will look at having it online within the next few days

Piano at Peckforton Castle

June 25th, 2013

chester castleThis weekend The Beat Collective travelled over the M62 from Leeds to Peckforton Castle in Cheshire. It turned out to be one of the most stunning venues we have played in quite some time; a huge castle surrounded by woodland and beautiful countryside. To top it off, the crowd were fantastic, dancing all night from start to finish.

The day started for us at around 4pm. Chris, our pianist, went over early to provide background piano during the wedding breakfast. Don’t forget to ask us when you enquire about our pre evening entertainment, including solo piano, classical guitar and the smooth laidback sounds of the Acoustic Beats, which includes vocals, acoustic guitar and cajon. The bride was delighted with both the solo piano set and the bands performance that evening, saying:

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for yesterday. Everyone I spoke to said you were amazing as did mike and I! You really made the evening. One of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to and you guys were a massive contribution to that. We will definitely recommend you to friends!
Thanks for making our party so much fun.  The singer had a fantastic voice and you all played excellently.
Thanks so much
Leigh & mike :)
A great bit of feedback from a great couple, who’s wedding we massively enjoyed being a part of.

Demo now due July 3rd

June 18th, 2013

Our long awaited new demo has been delayed ever so slightly, and is now due early July. July 3rd to be precise. We at The Beat Collective want the demo to sound as good as it possibly can so you get an accurate representation of just what you get when you book us for your wedding or function. So although we are eager to get it online ASAP, we are glad so much hard work is going into the final mix.

The demo is being mixed by the fine people at Alive Network studios. They are working on some huge projects at the moment, so we look forward to hearing the finished product in a few weeks time. We love what we’ve heard so far and are eager to share our finished product with you all.

Keep watching this space……………

The Beat Collective Enjoy Edinburgh

June 10th, 2013

edinburghThe Beat Collective took the long trip up from Leeds to Edinburgh on Thursday. We were playing the Summer Ball at the Draghorn Barracks. A fantastic night was had by all, with great food, drink and entertainment on all evening. The Beat Collective shared the stage with professional regurgitator Stevie Starr or Britains Got Talent fame, who went on to swallow and regurgitate an array of outrageous items. A fantastic night was had by all. We all felt tired afterwards though, as we were booked to provide our Ipod disco service until 2am. Those Scots know how to party.

The weekends gigging was concluded in Blackpool, where we played a surprise birthday party at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday. We now look forward to a good rest this week before another busy schedule of gigs next weekend.

Shropshire Success for The Beat Collective

June 2nd, 2013

philThe beautiful surroundings of Delbury Hall was the setting for last nights gig. Once again, The Beat Collective had the dance floor filled for three sets and were privileged to play to a great and boisterous crowd. The first dance of At Last by Etta James encouraged the revellers to join the happy couple, where they stayed all night, showing great enthusiasm to our set including our classic 60′s medley and particularly Rolling in the Deep by Adele.

We were particularly pleased to sample as many of the 14 different wedding cakes as we could; the couple opting for asking their guests to bake and enter a cake into a mini competition rather than just the traditional wedding cake. We thought this was a great touch. Our personal favourite was the Rainbow Cake that came in a deserved second place to the winning Farmyard Cake.

We tried to take a photo for this blog but the evidence had already been eaten by this point.

Congratulations to the happy couple on organising such a fun and beautiful wedding.

Two Great Weddings

May 29th, 2013

wessonweddingAnother busy weekend for The Beat Collective culminated at Gisborough Hall in the North East on Sunday evening, following their epic 3 Hour set on Saturday night at Alfreton Hall. The trip to Derbyshire was met with Rapturous applause, with Groom Alex Wesson saying ‘Thanks Beat Collective for a fantastic Wedding, you made the night’. Here’s a photo of the packed dance floor raising the groom to our encore, Mr Brightside.

Gisborough Hall was equally fun to play, and was such a beautiful venue. We highly recommend both Alfreton Hall and Gisborough Hall to any engaged couples looking for a well organised wedding in picturesque surroundings.

Another busy week lies ahead for us. We will be in Shropshire at the weekend, whilst also awaiting the first mix of our new demo. Watch this space

New Demo Almost Complete

May 17th, 2013

studio1Yesterday, Alex and Andy travelled over from Leeds to Stoke and returned to the Alive Network studios to add the finishing touches to the new demo. After spending the day with in house producer Tom, the acoustic guitar part to Rolling in the Deep by Adele was laid down, as well as lead and backing vocals to the other three tracks – we even managed to convince some of the Alive Network staff to join us in the vocal booth to lay down the all important ‘hand claps’ to a few of the tracks. The demo is due to be mixed within the next few weeks, meaning the 4 track demo should be complete within the first few weeks of June. We cant wait for you to hear the finished product, it sounds fantastic even at this early stage. Here is the track listing in full:

  • Locked Out Of Heaven – Bruno Mars
  • Rolling In The Deep – Adele
  • Johnny B Goode – Chuck Berry
  • Respect – Aretha Franklin

We will be putting the demos up on our Media player, which can be found on the right hand side of every page on this website. Furthermore, we will be introducing a SoundCloud page, which will include our previous demos (which we still love) once the new ones are put up. It will also feature excerpts from our Solo Piano player and our Classical Guitarist. Don’t forget to visit our What We Offer page for more information on both these options.

We’ll keep you posted on how the mixing goes in the next few weeks. In the meantime, please check out our other demos in our media player.

Thanks

Andy

Charity Ball a success

May 13th, 2013

charity ball photoLast week The Beat Collective were honoured to play at the Queens Hotel in our home base of Leeds. The Friends of Lucy Mai Charity Ball took place in the huge Ball Room of the Hotel, and was host to over 300 guests. We’re happy to say it was an absolute success, and we were delighted to have the dance floor filled from start to finish (see photo)

The Beat Collective were thrilled to be asked back for next years event. We look forward to meeting the Emmerdale cast once more, who warmed the guests up with a fine selection of popular covers.

Congratulations to all involved in organising such a successful event.
